A popular beachside cafe and bar in the city’s south is on the verge of a refurbishment to accommodate a new external rooftop dining area.

Breeze, at 163 Esplanade, Aldinga Beach will soon be able to cater to an extra 43 customers after the proposed renovation has been completed.

The plans include replacing its existing enclosed front verandah with a single-storey building and rooftop balcony dining area.

“The proposed development results in a net increase in the number of seats outside from around 33 (in the ground floor dining area) to 76 (40 in the ground floor dining area and 36 in the rooftop dining area,” a report produced by Marshall Day Acoustics said.

The planning documents include a noise report, which predicts a minor rise that’s still within acceptable noise levels. The opening hours - 7am to midnight, Monday to Saturday - are not proposed to change.

Whether you’re after a meal, beverage, or a locally roasted Altura coffee, locals and tourists alike have come to adore Breeze over the years.

“For the last four to five years, as a local, Breeze has been my back up cafe choice,” one Tripadvisor member said.

“It’s not only the feel and ambience that have improved though, the cuisine, coffee, and friendly service have all improved noticeably.

“The staff are, without exception, welcoming, polite, and efficient... And this includes the kitchen staff.”

Ian, another Tripadvisor member, was also complimentary.

“A little gem of a place with excellent food at moderate pricing, great service, and a good selection of items,” he said.

“In a lovely little location on top of the cliffs, it’s a beautiful spot for a meal or just coffee and cake.

“We will definitely go again.”
