Cheeky bub surprises parents with a quick and early arrival

Arlo Wooldridge-Wright might have a cheeky smile now but his cheeky streak has been on show since before he was even born.

The now four-month-old decided he was ready to make a quick entrance into the world seven weeks early leaving his parents Mikayla and Kurtis Wooldridge-Wright in shock.

“I was 33 weeks pregnant and I just went into spontaneous labour at home, my water broke and two hours and forty minutes later he was here,” Mrs Wooldridge-Wright said.

Despite his early arrival, Arlo weighed almost seven pounds at birth and earned himself the nickname “Little Buddha” during his five week stay in the special care nursery.

Arlo still needs some medication to manage a heart condition common in premature babies but Mrs Wooldridge-Wright said he’s a beautiful almost-five-month-old.

“He’s super cheeky and has a really cute grin, he’s very smiley and giggly and just beautiful,” she said.

“He’s got the cheekiest smile with the little double chin, it’s the best thing ever.”

Arlo is one of 40 babies nominated as a finalist in our search for SA’s cheekiest baby.
