Two residential properties in Pasadena could be demolished for a two-storey childcare centre.
Plans have been lodged with the state government’s development assessment panel for the centre, at 40 and 42 Cash Grove, approximately 150m from the Pasadena Shopping Centre, that would cater for up to 98 children and employ 16 staff.
Currently home to two single-storey properties with large open space areas and established landscaping, the centre is planned to operate from 6.30am to 6.30pm with 25 carparking spaces.
The 1938sq m site falls within a suburban neighbourhood zone, a consultant’s report revealed.
There are currently no childcare centres in Pasadena or the neighbouring Panorama.
Consultant ekistics stated the proposal would offer a contemporary childcare centre serving the needs of the local community in an area where there are “very few long day care facilities”.
“Projected traffic generation and distribution will not adversely impact on the intended function and/or capacity of the adjacent road networks,” it submitted.
It is also situated near a public reserve, playground equipment and the Pasadena Kindergarten.
“The proposed long day childcare centre will coexist well with the existing kindergarten given the different but complementary services offered by these two facilities,” it reported.
