Four-month-old Lotus Green came into the world a surprise after years of heartbreak and loss for parents Tilly and Darren Green.

The Hampstead Gardens couple lost their daughter Marlowe in 2015 when she was stillborn at 40 weeks gestation.

After years of fertility treatments to conceive sons Ace, 7, and Hart, 2, Mr and Mrs Green beat the odds to fall pregnant naturally with both Marlowe and later Lotus.

“We were told by our fertility specialist there was slim to no chance of us falling pregnant naturally so when we fell pregnant with Lotus naturally it was a real shock,” Mrs Green said.

“She is our little miracle, I’m not a religious person but I prayed everyday for the opportunity to have a daughter to bring up earthside rather than just in heaven.”

Lotus has been named SA’s cutest miracle baby in our latest instalment of the SA’s cutest babies series.

Mrs Green said she and her family consider Lotus a gift from her sister Marlowe in heaven.

“None of us know what happens after you die but I swear Marlowe had something to do with sending Lotus to us,” she said.

“We wish every day that Marlowe was here but the universe works in crazy ways and if she had lived we probably never would’ve gone on to do IVF and have our two-year-old and then Lotus.

“Every night I kiss my children goodnight and kiss Marlowe’s urn goodnight and I thank her for everything she’s given us.”
