Revealed: Nikki Curnow of Adelaide Lashes named SA’s best eyelash technician

When it was time for a career change, Nikki Curnow knew her future was in eyelashes.

The Morphett Vale lash technician left her job as a flight attendant two-and-a-half years ago and started her business Adelaide Lashes.

Now, Ms Curnow has been named SA’s best lash technician in The Messenger’s latest “Best Of” reader poll.

Earning more than 18 per cent of reader votes, Ms Curnow said it was a dream to be recognised.

“I’m really passionate about what I do so to be recognised as one of the best I just feel so lucky and excited because every day I’m doing what I love,” she said.

Ms Curnow has been getting eyelash extensions herself for six years so when the time came to leave her job it was an easy choice.

“I’ve had lashes myself for so long that I’ve become quite passionate about it so I decided to start a home business doing something that I love,” she said.

“I loved it straight away and from the beginning I had such a good clientele base and it was really rewarding for me.

“I love the people that I get to meet, I’m lucky that I have this great clientele base and I’ve been able to make such good friendships with them.”

Six months ago, Ms Curnow expanded her business to selling and supplying wholesale eyelashes to technicians across SA and Australia.

“They become more popular every single day, they’re just growing and growing and you see so many people with lashes now,” she said.

Hallett Cove’s Bethany Paige placed second in the voting, with Belinda Cagliuso from Cheltenham rounding out the top three.
