Sunbar at Mawson Lakes named SA’s best spray tan salon in Messenger poll

We asked you to vote and now the results are in – here’s where you think the best spray tan salon is in SA. See the winner and top 10.

After more than 15 years in the tan business, Sunbar tanning studio owner Skye Sims has seen massive changes in the industry.

From the 2014 ban on solariums to advances in spray tanning solutions, Mrs Sims and her Mawson Lakes salon have been through it all.

Now, Sunbar has been named SA’s best spray tan salon and received more than 23 per cent of votes in our latest “Best of” poll.

Doing almost 180 spray tans each week, Mrs Sims said customers were looking for that faux sun-kissed glow for more than just special occasions.

“Everyone is more sun cautious these days so they prefer to be spray tanned rather than laying out in the sun,” she said.

“A lot of our clients are coming in for big events like formals, weddings, hens parties but now we’ve also got males coming in as well … and we have females coming in just because they want to have that nice sun-kissed glow all the time.”

Since removing solariums from the salon Sunbar has expanded its offering to include eyebrow and eyelash services as well.

But tans will always be a customer favourite.

“I feel really humble and grateful to have such awesome clients that have been so amazing for 15 years and supported us from day dot,” Mrs Sims said.

“We’ve gone through some trials and tribulations with the whole solarium stage so it's been really good to have such great supportive customers.”

Hayley Lloyd of Goldie Studios in Fulham was voted second best in the state with Beauty at 17’s Suzey Hackenbruch taking out third.
