A sold-out event in the northern suburbs with famed Australian food blogger Nagi Maehashi of RecipeTin Eats has been cancelled – just a week beforehand.
In a social media post, Nagi - as she prefers to be known - said she had also cancelled another appearance at Boronia Kitchen in NSW.
“My fault, you know how life can be. Life is not always fun and happy and delicious like what you see on Instagram,” she wrote.
Nagi said it was “not a decision taken lightly after all the excitement and planning” but gave a shout out to the team at Boronia and chef Simon Sandall for being “understanding” and not making her “feel bad” for the late cancellation.
She wrote she was looking forward to showing off her “favourite neighbourhood restaurant” but encouraged people to visit to enjoy the prawn toast, salmon terrine, crackling pork belly and gnocchi.
A spokesman for the Salisbury Council, the hosts of the event, confirmed the event was no longer going ahead on March 7.
“The City of Salisbury regretfully advises that due to unforeseen circumstances, the event with Nagi Maehashi will be rescheduled until later in the year,” the spokesman said.
“We apologise to those who had planned to attend, and thank you in advance for your understanding.
“Ticket holders are welcome to receive a refund or hold their booking until further notice.”
Ticket holders are being contacted by the council directly to discuss their options, and no further announcements are expected to go live at this stage.
Nagi was expected to present a talk alongside a cooking demonstration and sign her new cookbook at the Salisbury City Centre.
She previously said she couldn’t wait to visit Adelaide as South Australia has “an amazing local food scene” that she is “super keen to explore”.
“I’m really looking forward to meeting the locals and cooking up something special for RecipeTin Eats readers,” she said.
Nagi’s representative has been contacted for comment.
