The woman who made a desperate 000 call from a car boot after she was kidnapped by her customers has been locked up in the same prison as one of her tormentors, a court has heard.

Jennifer Susan Thomas, 39, was kidnapped at gunpoint, bashed and thrown into the boot of a car but is now facing court for her own crimes.

The Black Forest mother who pleaded guilty to drug trafficking was due to be sentenced in the Adelaide District court on Friday but it was adjourned to find suitable accommodation for her possible release.

Carrie Demertzis, for Jennifer Thomas, told the court during sentencing submissions in June she had been in the same prison as one of her imprisoners, Tuesday Holly Thomas since being taken into custody in October.

“The prison has done as best they can to keep them separate,” she said.

“There have been no incidents as yet, but unfortunately the fear of reprisals and the fear of running into her is still very much a real thing for (Jennifer Thomas).”

Mr Demertzis said being kidnapped was an “extremely traumatic” experience for Jennifer Thomas.

“She was clearly falsely imprisoned for an extended period of time and (was) physically harmed and indeed, in a rather degrading way as well,” she said.

Tuesday Thomas, 35, Jayden Paul Casey, 28, and Joel Williams, 39, were jailed in June over the terrifying joint enterprise.

In June, the Adelaide District Court heard Jennifer Thomas agreed to meet Williams at Para Hills McDonald’s on June 12, 2020.

Casey and Williams got into Jennifer Thomas’s car and Casey held a small handgun to the back of her head and forced her to drive.

Jennifer Thomas was taken to a Elizabeth Park address, where the group started taking videos and photos of her, trying to force her to apologise to all the people she had “ripped off”.

The court heard Tuesday Thomas punched Jennifer Thomas in her face, while co-accused Peter Slavin-Molloy allegedly spat at the victim and told her he was going to urinate on her.

Jennifer Thomas was tied up, gagged and a dog lead placed around her neck.

She was made to get into the boot of the car, where she managed to call 000 and police arrived shortly after.

Jennifer Thomas was taken to hospital and treated for several injuries including a fractured eye socket.

The court heard the group engaged in the “vigilante justice” because Jennifer Thomas was selling them cutter instead of drugs and spread false accusations that Casey sexually assaulted her friend.

Tuesday Thomas, of Elizabeth Park, Williams, of Valley View, and Casey, of Clearview, pleaded guilty to false imprisonment and various assault charges, while Casey and Williams also pleaded guilty to kidnapping.

Their co-accused, Peter Slavin-Molloy, 41, of Para Hills, pleaded guilty to kidnapping, assault and false imprisonment and will face sentencing submissions in September.

Judge Kudelka sentenced Tuesday Thomas to four years and six months jail, with a non-parole period of two years and four months.

Casey was sentenced to five years and seven months jail, with a non-parole period of two years and 10 months, while Williams was jailed for five years and three months, with the same non-parole period.

Tuesday Thomas and Williams’ sentences were backdated to June 12, 2020, while Casey’s was backdated to June 15, 2020.

Jennifer Thomas’s victim impact statement was read to the court at the time.

“I don’t feel safe anywhere or even answering my door. I cannot sit in the back seat of a car as it is too close to the boot,” she wrote.

“Since the event, I have struggled with substance abuse to try and get through each day, numbing the effects of the event.”

Mr Demertzis said Jennifer Thomas’s drug addiction got out of control after the breakdown of her marriage.

The court heard Jennifer Thomas, who had previously worked in aged care, was dealing drugs to pay for her own habit as well as her expenses.

Judge Emily Telfer will sentence Jennifer Thomas later this month.
