A woman was kidnapped at gunpoint, bashed and thrown into the boot of a car because of lies and dodgy drugs, a court has heard.

Tuesday Holly Thomas, 35, Jayden Paul Casey, 28, and Joel Williams, 39, were jailed over the terrifying joint enterprise.

The Adelaide District Court last month heard the victim agreed to meet Williams at Para Hills McDonald’s on June 12, 2020.

Casey and Williams got into the victim’s car and Casey held a small handgun to the back of her head and forced her to drive.

They called Thomas who said “bring the putrid mutt here” and the victim was taken to a Elizabeth Park address.

“You all stayed to interrogate and terrorise her about her apparent wrongdoings to other people,” Judge Liesl Kudelka said during sentencing.

The group started taking videos and photos of her, trying to force her to apologise to all the people she had “ripped off”.

“You were asking your so-called audience ‘what do you want with her’,” Judge Kudelka said.

The court heard Thomas punched the victim to her face, while co-accused Peter Slavin-Molloy allegedly spat at the victim and told her he was going to urinate on her.

The victim was tied up, gagged and a dog lead placed around her neck.

“She was made to get into the boot of the car … at one point she fell unconscious,” Judge Kudelka said.

The court heard when the victim woke up she called 000 on a phone she had hidden in her pants.

“She told the operator she had been bashed and put in the boot, unfortunately the operator did not believe her and hung up,” Judge Kudelka said.

The victim called again and the second operator believed her.

A short time later, patrols attended the Elizabeth Park house where they found the victim still tied up in the boot.

She was taken to the Lyell McEwin Hospital and treated for several injuries including a fractured eye socket.

Thomas, of Elizabeth Park, Williams, of Valley View, and Casey, of Clearview, pleaded guilty to false imprisonment and various assault charges, while Casey and Williams also pleaded guilty to kidnapping.

Their co-accused, Peter Slavin-Molloy, 41, of Para Hills, pleaded guilty to kidnapping, assault and false imprisonment and will face sentencing submissions in September.

The court heard the group engaged in the “vigilante justice” because the victim had spread false accusations that Casey sexually assaulted her friend.

Judge Kudelka said other people watching the videos would see the trio as “small, immature and pathetic”.

“You all look and sound like drug addicted fools,” she said.

“To get together as a group to terrorise another human being in the way you did was gutless.”

The court heard the trio were all under the influence of drugs at the time of the offending.

Judge Kudelka sentenced Thomas to four years and six months jail, with a non-parole period of two years and four months.

Casey was sentenced to five years and seven months jail, with a non-parole period of two years and 10 months, while Williams was jailed for five years and three months, with the same non-parole period.

“What you did to the victim was nasty, terrifying and criminal,” Judge Kudelka said.

Thomas and Williams’ sentences were backdated to June 12, 2020, while Casey’s was backdated to June 15, 2020.
