A man has admitted to drug dealing from a hotel room after police searched his house and found a significant amount of drugs, as well as a loaded gun.
Chad Peter Christou, 37, and Sanja Parenta, 40, were due to face trial in the District Court on Monday but the court heard a resolution had been reached.
Christou, of Greenwith, pleaded guilty to possessing a firearm, namely a loaded rifle, commercial drug trafficking and large commercial drug trafficking.
As a result, a prosecutor said they wouldn’t be proceeding against his partner at the time, Ms Parenta and her three drug trafficking charges were dropped.
Police attended Christou and Ms Parenta’s Greenwith house on October 13, 2020.
Both individuals weren’t present.
Police found a loaded rifle and three bottles of GBH – also known as fantasy – under the rifle, which was estimated at 2-3L.
The court heard police re-attended the following day and neither Christou or Ms Parenta were present again.
Christou used his credit card at the Walkers Arm Hotel on October 16, 2020 leading police to attend and search their hotel room two days later.
“Upon searching that room, 5-6L of suspected fantasy is located,” the police prosecutor said.
The court heard police also found scales, four separate phones and tick lists.
Christou and Ms Parenta were arrested as a result.
“Mr Christou on arrest has in his underpants three bags of methamphetamine, 14 Suboxone strips and a bag with 15 pills inside,” the police prosecutor said.
Ms Parenta was previously called out by a magistrate to show more modesty in court after she showed up to a hearing dressed in a black mini skirt, a low-cut top and high heels.
In the District Court on Monday, Judge Michelle Sutcliffe adjourned Christou’s charges until April for sentencing submissions.
