A woman has escaped serious injury after crashing her car into a drainage ditch off the Riddoch Highway, shortly after police allegedly caught her speeding.

Police say that around 8:30pm on Friday, April 12, officers at Lochaber detected a black Mitsubishi Outlander station wagon travelling south at 142km/h in a 110km/h zone.

Shortly after, the driver, a 25-year-old woman from New Zealand, crashed the vehicle into a drainage ditch, police said.

She was taken to the Naracoorte Hospital by ambulance where she was treated for minor injuries and a sample of her blood was taken for analysis.

She was reported for exceeding the speed limit and driving without due care.
