A man among an alleged gang of thieves has pleaded guilty to a terrifying crime spree across Adelaide – where multiple houses were targeted.

Home invasion laws: Your rights in Australia when an intruder breaks in

A man has admitted to multiple break-ins across Adelaide, including one where he threatened the homeowner with a wine bottle.

Emmanuel Kanga Samuel, 22, pleaded guilty to multiple charges of serious criminal trespass and theft in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday.

The court heard an assault causing harm charge was being withdrawn by the prosecution.

Mr Samuel, of Munno Para West, is charged alongside Blaise Serugo, 22, and youths over the terrifying crime spree.

Mr Serugo, of Blakeview, pleaded not guilty to all charges last month.

Police allege the gang began their crime spree around 1am on October 9 in Ingle Farm when they broke into a house and demanded cash from the 25-year-old occupant.

The court heard Samuel used or threatened to use a wine bottle during the attempted theft.

The group left the home empty-handed in a silver sedan, but were seen shortly after running from a house at Windsor Gardens, before fleeing in the same sedan.

Samuel and the other men allegedly stole wireless earbuds and a smart watch from that house, with the occupant not home at the time.

Around an hour later, the 30-year-old occupant of a Hendon address heard a loud bang at the front of his house and on investigation, discovered the front window had been smashed and the front door damaged.

The court heard Samuel and the group did not gain entry, but weren’t done yet.

Just before 3am, the 73-year-old occupant of a West Lakes house woke to noises and saw a figure at her bedroom door.

The woman arose and discovered her handbag and keys had been stolen.

PolAir tracked the car from above along the Port River Expressway and Elder Smith Dr before it stopped on Grasswren Way and five people, including Samuel, ran from the car.

Police Dog Rusty and his handler went to the scene and with the assistance of PolAir and patrols located four of the five suspects.

Police searched the car and found the keys from the West Lakes home along with gloves, knife and alcohol.
Samuel was jailed in 2021 after he choked and bashed his ex-partner on Hindley St, leaving her bloodied and bruised.

On Monday, Magistrate John Wells committed Samuel to the District Court in July.
