Remember when you are a kid, your parents asked ‘if your friend did that, would you?’.
Well, for our latest Best Of winner, taking his friend’s advice may have just been the best thing he has ever done.
EFM Magill owner Wade Brady got his start in the fitness industry after a mere suggestion and now his gym has claimed the gold medal in our hunt for South Australia’s best.
“It was by chance, a mate said ‘you’ve always gone to the gym’ and I always got along with people, I just fell into it,” Mr Brady said.
“I was recommended to a guy who owned an EFM, I had no intentions of buying it but a little after two years I realised I was doing everything and I was in a position to purchase it.”
Ten years later, Mr Brady now finds himself doing what he loves and helping his community achieve their fitness goals.
“We’ve got a great community here, which is a huge part of it, it’s much easier to go somewhere when you enjoy going,” he said.
“Coming from a country town and I feel as though I have been able to create that sense of community within my club.
“The best thing you can give someone is your time and I absolutely love it.”
For club member Jennifer Roberts, the sense of community she receives from EFM is exactly what she had been looking for.
“It feels like I am working out with good friends and there’s no judgment, there’s no attitude, they have made me feel at home,” Ms Roberts said.
“It’s a wonderful tight-knit community.”
