A man allegedly peered over cubicles in the female toilets at an Adelaide nightclub and watched a woman urinate, a court has heard.

Michael Sabry Ibrahim Gerges, 33, of Paradise, is alleged to have spied on a woman in toilets at the Woolshed on Hindley on Monday, January 28, 2019.

He has been charged with two counts of behaving in an offensive manner in a public place.

In the Adelaide Magistrates Court, police alleged a woman went into the second-floor toilets of the Hindley Street nightclub around 3.20am and, while urinating, saw Mr Gerges – a “Middle Eastern man in his 30s” – looking over the top of the cubicle wall at her.

By the time she had finished, the man had gone, police said, but another woman said she had seen him and he was wearing a pink shirt.

She informed the nightclub’s security.

When she returned toilets around 4am, police claim she again saw Mr Gerges peering into her cubicle.

Mr Gerges did not appear at Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday.

His lawyer requested the matter be adjourned to obtain CCTV footage and a copy of his police interview.

That request was granted by Magistrate Jayne Basheer.

The matter will return to court on September 1.
