A man who walked free after grabbing his partner by the throat and threatening to slit the throats of her kids made a devious decision that landed him in lock-up.

A man who grabbed his partner by the throat and threatened her kids in an alcohol-fuelled attack contacted her on a fake account only months after being sentenced.

Jack Dwayne Wundenberg, 28, was jailed by the Adelaide District Court on Tuesday after he ignored the many warnings given to him by the court.

Wundenberg, who pleaded guilty to assault and threatening to kill or endanger life, was sentenced in September to one year and two months’ jail, with a non-parole period of seven months.

It was suspended on a three-year good behaviour bond, with supervision for two years.

During Wundenberg’s sentencing, the court heard he got into an argument with the victim on June 10, 2019 at Wall Flat.

Wundenberg refused to let the victim leave the kitchen, demanding that she give him a phone number he wanted.

“You grabbed her around the throat with your right hand, lifting her off the ground and pushing her against the wall,” Chief Judge Michael Evans said.

“You continued to hold her with your right hand for about 40-50 seconds before letting her go, where she slumped to the floor.”

The court heard Wundenberg, who had grabbed a knife during the argument, threatened her children, who were home at the time.

“You said to her ‘give me the number or I’m going to slit their throats with a knife’,” Chief Judge Evans said.

The court heard a condition of Wundenberg’s suspended sentence bond was that he not communicate with his ex-partner.

Judge Geraldine Davison told the Adelaide District Court on Tuesday the victim received a social media message from “Josh Wundenberg“ on December 20, 2021.

“It seems that in the past you have set up various accounts in different names in order to get in contact with her,” she said.

“She said that when she received the message it made her feel horrible, and she just wants to get on with her life and have nothing more to do with you.”

Wundenberg pleaded guilty to breaching the suspended sentence bond.

Judge Davison revoked the bond and ordered Wundenberg serve the sentence.

“You have had many warnings and the courts have been very clear with you that there are consequences for not complying with the bonds that you have been given,” she said.
