SPORTS fans have hit the roof at Adelaide Oval, as a tourist attraction offering the best seats in the house opens to the public.
The Adelaide Oval roof climb has begun its first tours, letting people walk across the top of the Oval on a purpose-built path from the western stand to the Riverbank stand.
With 16 seats on the roof of the Riverbank stand participants can relax and take in the spectacular view of the city and Adelaide’s suburbs, 50m above the goal square.
Among the lucky few to take the first tour were Barbara and Lewis Curnow, who said they were blown away by the stunning views.
“It’s just brilliant and also inspiring hanging out over the goal square,’ Mrs Curnow said.
“It’s very different to see the Oval from up there. It’s such a beautiful oval and I think this is yet another enhancement for it.
“It’s something we’d do again and I’ll be telling everyone to come and try it.”
Adelaide Oval Stadium Management Authority chairman John Olsen said the climb has been a vision since day one.
“This has been a dream of ours ever since we first began operating the Adelaide Oval more than 2½ years-ago,” he said.
“It’s fantastic that we’re finally here and about to create some history for Adelaide Oval, the city and the state.
