75-year-old Milang man dies after car crashes near Mount Barker freeway on-ramp

A 75-year-old man from Milang has died after his car collided with road signs and street light at Mount Barker on Monday morning.

A 75-year-old man has died after his car ran off the road and crashed into a street light at Mount Barker on Monday morning.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of Adelaide Rd and Mt Barker Rd about 9.40am after reports of a serious crash involving a Ford utility.

The man from Milang died at the scene.

Police said the driver veered off the road and crashed into a street light and road signs.

Major Crash investigators attended the scene to examine the cause of the crash.

The freeway on-ramp from Mt Barker to Adelaide was closed for several hours, and Adelaide Rd was reduced to one lane to all traffic, causing lengthy delays with vehicle queues spanning about 2km back into Mt Barker, past Hungry Jacks.

The man’s life is the 50th lost on South Australian roads in comparison with 30 at the same time last year.
