A long-awaited Park N Ride in the Adelaide Hills will open on Monday – with a sausage sizzle to celebrate.
Work started on the $6m Crafers Park N Ride in February and it will increase parking for public transport in the area by 85 spaces.
Crafers has long been hampered by a lack of parking for city commuters, with people parking cars up side streets.
The project was announced in July 2023, when the state government committed $20m to upgrade park n’ rides across the Hills.
The park n ride is located on the South Eastern Freeway off-ramp on the downtrack.
Adelaide Hills Council said the project was finished and would be open on Monday.
“Join a sausage sizzle for the opening, between 3:30pm and 6pm on the corner of Waverley Ridge Rd and the Crafers interchange off-ramp,” it said in a statement.
The park n ride is located on the other side of the freeway to the current park n ride, which offers only 39 spaces.
It includes accessible spaces and 35 motorcycle parking spots.
