It’s been a sour 12 months for SA’s wine industry, having battled bushfires, the ramifications of COVID-19 and new Chinese wine tariffs. But for our winemakers, the future is ripe for the picking.

They’re coming together to call 2021 the Year of South Australian Wine: a year-long campaign that encourages people to embrace wine events, and help drive sales and visitation across 18 regions.

The SA Tourism Commission’s new online calendar pulls together cellar door events, hands-on experiences and music festivals, as well as a marketing toolkit for businesses.

“This year we’re being creative to come together to create events that show the strength of our wine community,” says Justine Henschke of Henschke Wines.

“People can plan their trips around the events, whether it’s a day trip or longer stay. And we want to support each other’s events, kicking off with Crush in the Adelaide Hills this weekend.”

The 2021 Year of South Australian Wine complements The Advertiser's SA Cellar Door Selector, an online searchable tool that allows users to map out their ideal wine tour.
