The coronavirus pandemic will not stop a crush of people heading to the Adelaide Hills this month.

The acclaimed wine region will host the annual Crush Festival – SA’s first major wine and food event for 2021.

Adelaide Hills Wine Region executive officer Fiona LeSage said more than 20 wineries had signed up to host 30-plus experiences from January 22-24.

“The Hills will be alive with an array of events showcasing the region’s renowned cool-climate wines and, of course, the wonderful cellar doors, food and people of the region,” she said.

“The producers and cellar doors of the region have gone to great lengths to ensure a relaxed, celebratory vibe with an exciting array of events in this year’s line-up, all curated with social distancing and government guidelines in mind.

“There will be events ranging from garden parties and twilight dinners, to relaxed acoustic music sessions, DJs and dumplings … there is something for every taste.”

Festivities will kick off on Friday, January 22, with the Shaw + Smith Long Table Dinner, hosted by chef Duncan Welgemoed and the Africola restaurant team.

Anderson Hill, at Lenswood, will host In the Eye of the Beholder, an evening event featuring its O Series range of wines. Howard Vineyard is again hosting its International Rosé & Dumpling Festival.

A new addition to this year’s festivities is the Murdoch Hill x Share – Zero Waste, Sustainable Lunch, where diners will be served a sustainable, restaurant-quality lunch using rescued food.
