Matildas player Charlotte “Charli” Grant has announced her engagement to Adelaide partner Lachlan Cameron.
Cameron proposed to Grant on his knee on December 22, with a trail of rose petals, candles, heart-shaped balloons and photographs of the couple leading to lights which read “MARRY ME”.
The former defender for UK club Tottenham Hotspur’s women’s team posted photos of her oval cut diamond engagement ring, along with her accepting the proposal, on Instagram on Boxing Day.
While the couple has not revealed where the engagement ring is from, it is very much on trend.
Walkerville’s Class A Jeweller managing director Brad Mucklow recently told The Advertiser oval diamonds “continue to reign supreme”.
Grant, 23, who was born in Adelaide, was a member of the Matildas Tokyo 2020 Olympics squad and scored her first international goal in a 2–0 win over England in a friendly game.
Her new fiance Cameron is Adelaide United’s retail and merchandise co-ordinator, and previously worked for Port Power in retail and administration and has played footy for Port District.
“Congratulations ChaCha!” the Matildas official account commented on Charli’s Instagram.
“Omg congratulations!! So happy for the both of you!!” commented Monique Moukachar.
