'Genius': Kmart mum's 'laundry' hack for storing oddly shaped toys

It scores bonus points for "making cleaning up toys so easy."

Accidentally x-rated toys

If you're a parent, you've probably experienced the never-ending struggle of finding a place for all your kids' toys.

From action figures to stuffed animals, it seems like they multiply overnight and take over every corner of your home.

And if they're oddly shaped toys, well, good luck to you - because they will never fit ANYWHERE. ANYWHERE!!!!

Well, it's time to breathe - because a savvy Kmart mum has a hack that might just turn your cluttered chaos into a more neatly organised cluttered chaos.

Hey! We'd take anything at this point.

"If your kid likes oddly shaped toys, this is for you"

In her post to the Kmart Mums Australia group, mum Prairie wrote: "I have had the worst time finding a spot for all these dinosaurs until the Kmart laundry hamper came out and if your kid is like mine and loves dinosaurs and oddly shaped toys, this is for you."

She then shared a photo of her toddler's extensive dinosaur collection which had been organised into the different baskets of the $55 Kmart Multi-Tier Laundry Hamper.

The three-tiered caddy is typically used to hold laundry but can be repurposed for a range of things such as toy storage. And while it might seem a bit exxy, Prairie said the investment is"worth every cent."

She later added in the comments that she even has three of them in total: "One in my lounge room for cars and stuffed animals" and "one with his superheroes."

One of her favourite features is the detachable baskets. "My two-year-old likes to cart them around all day. They come off easier if you assemble it like I have without the bar in between the top two baskets. I didn’t put the bar in that section as it’s not actually needed and I can fit more toys in this way."

But the whole caddy can be easily carted around too, thanks to the wheels on the bottom. "They make cleaning the toys up so easy," Prairie concluded.

"Hats off to you mumma"

Her post struck a chord with other parents who know the struggle all too well. "Looks like a great investment for my toddler's cars," one mum said.

Another wrote, "Thanks, heading there tomorrow to grab one before your post makes them out of stock. 🤣"

"Such a good idea," said another, adding: "Hats off mumma, much needed for my dino lover."

"I think I need a bigger house, a few baskets aren’t going to cut it," a different member joked.

"This will work for my little one's Barbies," pointed out someone else.

And then this person wrote, "I love this!" before suggesting these other uses for the caddy:

"Kids' shoes and socks
Hot Wheels cars
Paw patrol cars
Craft, paper, pens
Remote controls, magazines, tissues
Potatoes and onions."
