Two brand new dining destinations will be unveiled today as part of the $42 million Oval Hotel development.
Bespoke Wine Bar & Kitchen and the 40-seat Five Regions Restaurant replace and expand on the Oval’s former restaurant, Hill of Grace.
Bespoke, while more casual in nature, is pitched as the major drawcard.
The sprawling lounge and dining area includes whisky lockers, which people can hire to store their favourite drops, a wine wall of international and local labels, gas fireplace and, of course, Oval views.
It’s open for breakfast through to dinner and everything in between, from charcuterie and a drink, to coffee and cake.
“We envisage that it will become part of the fabric of North Adelaide – a food and wine destination for locals and visitors alike,” says food and beverage manager, Martin Wilson.
Five Regions Restaurant is a more intimate affair. The degustation style menu showcases local produce, such as Wagyu beef from Mt Compass and Port Lincoln squid, and will feature wines from SA’s five major wine regions: McLaren Vale, Barossa, Adelaide Hills, Clare Valley and Coonawarra. Wines labels will enjoy a two-month residency on the menu, paired with each course.
“The culinary approach will be quite understated and elegant, allowing ingredients to speak for themselves,” says executive chef Paul Lewis.
“Bespoke features a lot more flavour and different culinary techniques – more playful and bold. Both restaurants share a focus on local ingredients and producers.”
Bespoke and Five Regions have been 15 months in the making, and take the place the Oval’s controversial former restaurant Hill of Grace.
Bespoke’s kitchen is open to the public from Monday, and Five Regions from Tuesday.
The dining spaces form part of the five-storey, 133-room hotel, which is set to open September 25.
