Diners can again stand to make their celebratory toasts and share food with large groups of friends at their Christmas shows.

Restaurants are calling on locals to book in their last-minute festive lunch and dinners following Monday’s easing of COVID-19 restrictions, which allows people to stand while they drink and removes caps on table bookings. Venues must adhere to 1 in 2 sqm social distancing and provide the MySA Gov QR code for patrons to check in.

Owner of Rosemont Hall in Prospect, Aaron Ratanatray, said there was confusion among locals over what they could and couldn’t do for their celebrations.
“We’re getting so many inquiries from people – ‘I’d like to make a booking, we’ve got 12 people, are we allowed?’” Mr Ratanatray said.

“The people who want to book and are still a bit conscious can book outside – we’re really fortunate to have such a big outdoor area.”

The restaurant is running a ‘Rosemont Rocks Chrtistmas’ theme up until Christmas Eve, which includes optional banquet menus, cocktails and Brit-rock tunes – with the odd carol thrown in for good measure.

Ace’s in the Adelaide Central Market is also calling on people to book in their ‘dos, after hundreds of their bookings were cancelled during and after the November statewide lockdown. Co-owner Andrew Fantasia said the restaurant was open market trading days, and Thurs-Sat nights.

Selected restaurants are also open on Christmas Day, including Adelaide Oval’s Bespoke and Five Regions restaurants, the nearby Strathmore Hotel on North Tce, and Coopers Alehouse in Gepps Cross.
