A new cafe will launch in Lot Fourteen next week, using award-winning technology from a start-up at the innovation hub in the city.
Table on the Terrace, in the heritage-listed Sheridan Kiosk, will open its doors for the first time on Monday, promising quality coffee and a classic cafe menu.
The new business, by Karen Slabbert and Shane Abbott – the duo behind Port Noarlunga’s The Flour Store – replaces Community Cafe and Bar, which was owned by former Home and Away actor Brett Hicks-Maitland. The venue closed in June last year.
The new cafe has partnered with Lot Fourteen’s MyVenue, to offer streamlined food and beverage service through its award-winning point-of-sale system.
That technology has been used at stadiums and events across the world, including Dallas Cowboys’ AT&T Stadium, at the US Formula 1 Grand Prix and the Miami Open tennis tournament.
Ms Slabbert, who’s also a geospatial data analyst, said she’s passionate about Lot Fourteen and its vision.
“Our mission is to showcase the best of South Australian produce, delivering high-quality, locally-sourced food and beverages reflecting the region’s rich culinary heritage,” she said.
“We are committed to providing exceptional service through a well-trained team of baristas and front-of-house staff, ensuring that every customer experiences the perfect blend of hospitality and innovation.”
Mr Abbott said he’s hoping to make Table on the Terrace a “true neighbourhood favourite”.
“Lot Fourteen is a hub of innovation and creativity, and we’re thrilled to be part of this growing community,” he said.
The cafe’s opening comes as the restored Sheridan Kiosk’s celebrates its 100th-year anniversary.
