Some of the rarest champagnes in the world will be served up at an exclusive $2000 a head dinner at Adelaide’s Restaurant Botanic next month.

Global champagne brand Dom Perignon has teamed up with the fine dining venue for the intimate 28-person event which will feature five different Dom Perignon vintages including their 1993 Plénitude 3 – which alone retails at about $7500 a bottle.

Botanic’s wine director Elle Foster said despite the eye-watering price tag, a seat at the September 26 dinner was “exceptional value”.

“I’ve never even seen a bottle of the Plénitude 3 before let alone been part of a dinner to present and taste it. It’s an insane opportunity,” she said.

“If this was being held anywhere else in the world, New York or London for example, you’d be paying a lot more.”

An additional glass of the 1993 vintage will be available for $1100 each, should guests want an extra taste.

The collaborative dinner will also unveil the 2015 vintage in Australia for the first time.

“It’s not even in the country yet. The bottles will be shipped in just for this dinner,” Ms Foster said.

This is the third time that Restaurant Botanic has joined forces with Dom Perignon for an exclusive event. Last year’s dinner was priced at $1100 a head and Ms Foster said this year’s vertical tasting would take it to the next level.

“We wanted to do something super special. We live in the wine capital of Australia and there is such an appreciation for fine wine here,” she said.

Restaurant Botanic’s new executive chef Jamie Musgrave said the upcoming dinner will be “truly special”.

“Pairing these exceptional vintages with our carefully crafted menu allows us to create a unique and unforgettable experience for our guests,” he said.

Moet Hennessy’s brand ambassador Dean O’Reilly described the event as a “unique gastronomic champagne experience”.
