The operators of popular western suburbs cafe Karma and Crow have announced a new co-sharing location for their business, after “feeling the pinch”.
The crew behind the Richmond Rd hotspot have revealed they will be moving to the same space occupied by sister venue, microbrewery Yellow Matter, on Marion Rd, Brooklyn Park, in May, less than 1.5km away.
The businesses – owned by female-led hospitality group Sonic Yoni – will share the location, with Karma and Crow taking over during the day before trading as Yellow Matter at night.
The Brooklyn Park beer hall opened in June last year, serving up a range of tap beers and pizzas.
The news comes after the operators of Karma and Crow revealed they would not be renewing the lease on their Richmond Rd warehouse, in what they described as a “bittersweet” announcement.
“As you’re all aware and as we keep seeing everywhere, venues are having a very, very tough time right now and it isn’t feasible for us to remain in that building,” the Sonic Yoni group posted on social media three weeks ago.
More recently, the cafe explained their decision further, saying the timing was right for a “fresh start in fresh new digs”.
“We absolutely love our location but we too, are feeling the pinch and we’re feeling it real hard,” they wrote on Instagram.
“The last few years have been ultra challenging. The venue feels tired and so do we! We need some rejuvenation and what feels better than a fresh space?
“Moving is a costly exercise in a very hard time so we appreciate all the support we can get up until and after the move.”
The Karma and Crow team will soon start serving up coffee at the new location but will make the move official from May 16.
The much-loved cafe opened in 2016, and in 2021 took out the title for best brunch in Adelaide’s west.
