An Australian mexican restaurant chain is opening the doors on its much-anticipated first South Australian store next week.

Hecho en Mexico, a beloved street-style Mexican restaurant famed in Victoria, is set to launch its debut Adelaide eatery on Peel Street on Monday.

It will be the brand’s latest expansion outside Victoria, and to celebrate they’re offering $5 tacos and $13 classic margaritas for the first two weeks.

Co-founder Parveen Bajar said he was excited to introduce “authentic and modern Mexican cuisine” to SA, direct from Mexico.

“Our goal for expanding into Adelaide is to share our rich Mexican heritage and love of authentic flavours and recipes, which underpins the culture of our brand,” he said.

Mr Bajar said they’ve already hired a team of 15 local employees, with plans to grow the Adelaide team to 20 in coming weeks.

Hecho en Mexico is known for its extensive menu that includes entrees, burritos, burgers and salads, with gluten-free and vegan options.

Its famous drinks menu also includes a “generous selection of margaritas, cocktails, wine, sangria, beer, mocktails and tequila”.

It will also offer its popular Bottomless Brunch, a favourite weekend staple with unlimited gourmet tacos and unlimited premium cocktails, as well as beer, wine, and sangria.

Adelaide franchisee Simran Singh said the city was selected over the likes of Sydney and Brisbane for its reputation.

“It’s the festival state with a mixed culture, and we’re expanding interstate,” Mr Singh said.

“We have already done quite well in Melbourne and have now decided (to open in Adelaide).”

And he has not ruled out more Hecho en Mexico restaurants opening in South Australia, but confirmed nothing was as yet locked in.
