La Moka
Enjoy a little slice of Italy at this laneway cafe, which is famous for its yellow door, stylish decor across two levels and most importantly, its delicious coffee. The beans are expertly roasted by Uptown Coffee Roasters and extracted through its San Marco Leva machine which uses a traditional lever system to deliver the perfect espresso. During the day there’s a selection of tasty Italian treats, from paninis to zeppole and biscotti, then from Thursdays until Saturday, it turns into a classic aperitivo cocktail bar at night, complete with a range of decadent, coffee-infused drinks led by the espresso martini. So come in and try people watching by the front window.

Exchange Coffee
This East End favourite was named one of the best coffee shops in the world in a recent list, nestled proudly between cafes in the Netherlands and Korea. Using acclaimed Market Lane beans since opening in 2013, their daily coffee blend is currently from Brazil, which works well either as a black or white coffee, showcasing a nice even flavour on the palate. Every fortnight, they offer a guest coffee bean for adventurous customers, and there’s even a Tricolate device, which is an advanced filter brewer said to produce a higher extraction and better taste. It’s not just about the caffeine at Exchange, there’s also a hearty menu of brunch classics and sandwiches.

My Kingdom for a Horse
This specialty roaster has been a key part of the southwest corner of Adelaide for a decade, recently expanding to the heart of the city. For owner Emily Raven, it’s all about creating consistency with every sip of every cup of coffee they make. Their main seasonal blend, which is sustainably sourced, comes from Brazil and Colombia, and provides a well-rounded, full-bodied taste. There’s flavours of caramel, chocolate and nuts, which makes it delicious when served up black but also combines nicely with milk and alternative milks. Roasting beans on site at their Wright St location, they also train their baristas from scratch to ensure a perfect brew every time.

Burro
A special blend of beans and a familiar barista makes this cult coastal cafe a popular caffeine pit stop for a number of our AFL players. Part-owned by former Power and Carlton small forward Orazio Fantasia, Burro’s coffee has many western suburbs residents and workers making two or three visits to the Marlborough St venue every day. Located slightly away from the hustle and bustle of Henley Square you’ll also find a range of top-shelf Italian paninis, made fresh daily, plus several classic brunch dishes including waffles and yoghurt bowls. Best of all, they’re open seven days a week from 6.30am.
113 Marlborough St, Henley Beach
Bloom
Set in a converted, century-old tram barn overlooking the River Torrens, this all-day breakfast and lunch eatery has become an Insta-famous addition to Adelaide’s brunch scene. But there’s more than meets the eye at this trendy cafe, with a strong focus on coffee thanks to beans from local roasters 1645. Pouring a blend of Colombia and Costa Rica, the coffee pairs well with milk from the Fleurieu Milk Company. Caffeine lovers will salivate at variety of drinks available from the usual espressos and long blacks to batch brews and V60 pour over coffee. The food menu is even more extensive with plenty of creative brunch and shared plates using local ingredients.
