Famed ramen restaurant Hakata Gensuke opens pop up in Adelaide CBD, but only for a few days

A Melbourne-based ramen restaurant with a cult following has popped up in Adelaide delighting locals with delicious Japanese flavours, but only for a limited time.
Hakata Gensuke has set up shop in the Bakmi Lim Noodle Project kitchen located on Waymouth Street from March 25 to March 30.
Staff said 150 – 200 people have been lining up each night with some waiting 4-5 hours to get their hands on the infamous ramen.
During the week, management has been forced to close the queue at 100 people to keep up with demand but are hoping to extend this to 300 on Saturday and Sunday.
According to the brand’s Instagram page, the queues were exceeding this cap throughout the week even before the doors had opened.
When The Advertiser visited on Saturday morning, it was similar story with ramen fans lining up an hour before the store’s opening at 12pm.
Along with classic ramen offerings, the eatery has unleashed its secret menu items for the final days of trading which includes Aka Mental Tonkotsu – a ramen that promises “a creamy, mellow, yet robust experience”.
Originally from Japan Hakata Gensuke is known for its signature Hakara Tonkotsu ramen which has gone viral on Tik Tok.
The brand has stores in Melbourne, Western Australia and Sydney with the general manager teasing that they hope to expand permanently into Adelaide in the near future.
