Adelaide’s latest craft brewery will finally launch in Bowden’s new Plant 3 development on Tuesday.
The boys behind Bowden Brewing – Jake Phoenix, Alex Marschall, Oliver Brown, Josh Talbot and Matt Orman – say their venue will be like having a beer in your living room.
“A lot of breweries make awesome beers but sometimes don’t have as much focus on that space they’re selling it in,” Mr Talbot said.
“We really want this to be an extension of your living room. There’s so many apartments around Bowden that can be a bit small when you have a group of people around and you want somewhere to go. We want to be that place for people.”
Five years in the making, the new ‘brewpub’ will showcase twelve beers on tap including four main beers: a draught, a session ale, an IPA and seasonal sour. There will also be a kombucha and seltzer available.
The microbrewery will also include a Mexican taqueria called Masa, which will serve up handmade tortillas in the new development.
“There’s such a lovely community vibe in Bowden and we really wanted to step into that, embrace it and deliver something really cool,” Mr Phoenix said.
Located next door to sister space Plant 4, Plant 3 will house a range of vendors including hairdresser Seb & Tom, which opened last month, dessert bar Shirni Parwana, oyster bar House of Fish, plant shop Potted Thoughts and Bowden Cellars, a wine bar, bottle shop and restaurant. The latter will launch in coming weeks.
Owner of Plant 3 and 4, Jonathon Kaitatzis, said he hoped the unique space would “stimulate the senses and nourish the souls”.
“It has taken 5 years to be close to completing the reinvention and link of these previously industrialised buildings into... a central hub in Bowden for all to enjoy,” he said.
The main space will also feature a dual-level bar and will be used for markets, events and extra dining space.
