Banana Boogie Bakery sausage roll named Australia’s best
If you haven’t made the trip to this South Aussie bakery yet, now might be the time. The Baking Association of Australia has just declared them number one for sausage rolls.

An iconic South Australian bakery has taken out the title of baking Australia’s best sausage roll.
Banana Boogie Bakery, located in Belair, beat out 81 other bakeries from around the country to win the honour, which was announced at the Marion Hotel on Saturday.
Organised by the Baking Association of Australia, judges tasted more than 380 products, with the best sausage roll featuring in its own category for the first time ever
“It was amazing to win the inaugural sausage roll competition,” Banana Boogie Bakery owner Jason Spencer said.

“We were really happy with our product on the day. Sometimes things go pear-shaped but everything went really well for us.”
When asked what the secret to the perfect sausage roll was, Mr Spencer said it “comes down to the pastry”.
“We take a lot of pride in how we make it. We make it a really nice, soft eating pastry and it’s baked out really nicely so it has a bit of a crunch to it,” he said.
“One of the head judges came up to us and spoke to us after and he said he was really impressed with the pastry and how good the sausage rolls were.
“The competitions really help our business, they brings people to us. Every time we’ve done a competition, we’ve noticed the customers returning.”
The Banana Boogie Bakery has previously won similar competitions for their hot cross buns and Australia’s best meat pie.
