He’s considered an Australian Football League legend and more recently made his mark as an artist. Now, Gavin Wanganeen is getting his hands on coffee.
The two-time premiership winner and Hall of Famer has launched JooJu Coffee, offering a range of coffee beans and capsules, roasted by McLaren Vale-based Dawn Patrol.
Partnering with i=Change,
$1 from each sale will be donated to a good cause.
“We wanted to launch the brand with an immediate effect, one which was tangible and simple,” Wanganeen, 49, said.
On purchasing the coffee online, customers will be able to choose from three causes: improving literacy among Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islanders; ending violence against women; and providing support to young adults.
The brand name JooJu, meaning song, is a nod to Wanganeen’s Indigenous heritage as a descendant of the Kokatha people of the western desert in South Australia. He designed the packaging, “floating coffee beans”.
Wanganeen retired from AFL in 2006 after a 300-game career with Essendon and Port Adelaide. He held his first solo exhibition in 2016.
