'Biggest news ever!' Bluey creators drop surprise 28-minute episode

Fans around the globe will be counting down the days until the big reveal - but there's also something dropping in between!

Bluey creators are encouraging fans to "set their alarms" and "tell their friends" about some HUGE news involving their beloved Heeler family.

In what they're calling "the BIGGEST Bluey news ever", ABC will be airing a brand new surprise episode for fans.

But not just any old episode, one that goes for a dreamy 28 minutes. Yes, for real life!

The new 28-minute Bluey episode is almost here

In an Aussie first, the episode titled 'The Sign' will air on Sunday 14th April at 8am on ABC Kids and ABC iview before also becoming available to fans globally.

“We have set the date! The Sign – the biggest Bluey episode ever – will premiere in April on the ABC, the home of Bluey. Australian audiences will be the first to watch the 28-minute special, uniting with fans around the globe as they wake up to share in this major broadcast event," ABC Head of Children and Family Libbie Doherty confirmed in a statement.

"Joe Brumm and the team at Ludo have exceeded all expectations – we’re sure this episode will delight and surprise, so get ready.”

You'll recognise a few voices in the new episode too. Patrick Brammall returns as the voice of Uncle Rad, alongside Megan Washington as Calypso, Claudia O’Doherty as Frisky, Myf Warhurst as Trixie, and Rose Byrne as Brandy.

Joining the cast, will be Aussie stars Rove McManus, Deborah Mailman, Brendan Williams and Joel Edgerton, who will all finally make their Bluey voice debut.

But wait, there's more!

If you can't wait that long for more Bluey, there will also be a brand-new, regular-length episode that will air before the extended treat.

An episode titled 'Ghostbasket' will hit our screens on Sunday 7th April at 8am on ABC Kids and ABC iview.

What have we done to deserve this?!

Fans aren't the only ones excited about the new ep. Even those who created it can't wait to see it play out in our lounge rooms.

Cecelia Persson, the Managing Director of BBC Kids & Family called it an "unmissable event for every Bluey fan worldwide" and LUDO Studio were equally thrilled to see all of their hard work come to life.

"We’re so excited to share Ghostbasket, a brand-new Bluey episode followed by The Sign which is the equivalent to nearly six Chunky Chimps! The crew have worked so hard on these two new episodes, making them the very best that they can be and we can’t wait to share them with a global audience," they said.
