Hills make-up artist, Carly Dabinet has been named best in the state

After 20+ years in the beauty industry, a hills make-up guru has been voted as SA’s best make up artist for 2024.

When you need to look your best, make-up artists are there to enhance your natural beauty and bring a bit of extra glam to your look.

We asked our readers to nominate their go-to beauty expert for all things eyeliner, eyeshadow, lashes, blush and contour.

After receiving more than 750 suggestions in our Facebook comments, we narrowed the list down to the top 30 cosmetic superstars and put them to a vote.

Now the time has come to announce our winner.

Carly Dabinet has run her make-up business for over 20 years, after taking the leap to leave her job at a salon just after her first daughter was born in 2002.

When The Advertiser rang with the exciting news, Ms Dabinet was overjoyed and grateful to the Hills community who have always supported her Hawthorndene home salon.

“I am just blown away,” Ms Dabinet said.

The award-winning make-up-artists’ passion for beauty started when she was just twelve years old.

“I knew I wanted to be in the beauty industry and I knew what college I wanted to go to,” Ms Dabinet said.

“I was fortunate to get a job at Beaute’ Salon after school and I learnt so much there.”

Ms Dabinet is well-known for her formal and wedding make-up and also specialises in mature clients.

“I am 46 and not a lot of people my age are in the industry so I have tapped into that market because we deserve to feel good too, not just the young ones,” she said.

“I love making women of all ages feel good about themselves.

“We all deserve to feel pretty.”
