Afghan Make Up Artist has been crowned South Australia’s best brow bar for the fourth year in a row.
Proud owners and sisters Nilofar and Humera Abassi are the faces behind the successful beauty business and say they are “so happy” to have been awarded this year’s title.
“I want to thank every single client, every loyal client that has believed in me,” Ms Abassi said.
“They don’t only see me as an artist but as a person too.”
Ms Abassi said the main inspiration behind her passion for brows stems from the negative perception of her occupation in her home country of Afghanistan.
“To be a beautician in my country, it gives you a really bad reputation.
“When I came to Australia I was always aiming for a beauty place … I wanted to prove my community wrong.
“To be a beautician you can be a lot and you can achieve a lot.”
The “queen of brows” said she is proud of her Afghan heritage and hopes that she can be an example to other women.
“I want every woman to wake up in the morning and feel good about themselves,” she said.
Since their first win in 2020, the Abassi sisters business has only continued to flourish, growing from a home studio to a shopfront in Westfield West Lakes.
They also run an academy where they share their brow tips with blooming beauticians.
“I have always put other women first because I teach, I have over 185 students and I show them my skills and inspire another woman,” she said.
Ms Abassi has no plan to slow down and will open another shop in Elizabeth shopping centre by the end of July.
