Annabelle Quiniones may only be eleven years old but the young star is already making heads spin in the gymnastics world.
After taking home numerous prizes at both a state and national level, Annabelle attended her first National Training Camp in Sydney this year with the nation’s most elite international athletes.
“I also got to train with one of my favourite Aerobic gymnasts, Olivia Feaver,” Annabelle said.
Specialising in aerobics and training at Seacliff Aerobic Gymnastics, Annabelle currently competes as a Youth International Elite Aerobic Gymnast with her favourite skill being the straddle catch.
“My dream is to be like one of my coaches, Sophie King because she travels the world to compete,” Annabelle said.
“One of my biggest dreams is to compete in the Suzuki World Cup in Japan.”
She may only have been doing the sport for four years but the talented gymnast has her sights set on one day doing it professionally and will trial for international competitions in Bulgaria and New Zealand later this year.
While there are plenty of exciting events on Annabelle’s horizon, she has recently added another accolade to her collection after being named South Australia’s best up-and-coming gymnast.
The high-achiever said it feels “amazing” to have won the competition with the title giving her an extra pep in her step as she commences another busy gymnastics season.
Meet another young gymnastics star, Anissa Coats
What started with cartwheels and handstands in her living room has led 12-year-old Anissa Coats to a fiery love for gymnastics.
The young gymnast has been a member of the Blackwood Gym Sports team for four years and is loving every second.
“I love achieving new things, like getting a new skill and getting a high score in competitions,” the year 7 student said.
Anissa is currently completing level five gymnastics and has been busy building her skill set on the beam, vault, bars and floor.
“I think it’s cool being able to do higher level tricks,” she said.
“My favourite one is to do the round of back handsprings on floor.”
While she admits that flying through the air during some of her stunts can be a little scary she has her sights set on the big leagues.
“I see myself doing a bit more professionally,” Anissa said.
