Former Yummy Mummies star Maria DiGeronimo has revealed she’s expecting a baby boy next year and admitted she can’t wait to experience the joys of pregnancy outside reality TV.
Four years after she starred on Seven’s controversial series about expectant mums, DiGeronimo and her fiance Carlos Vannini announced the sex of their second child at a glamorous yet intimate, white-themed gender reveal party on the weekend.
“Everyone and everything was white and it looked amazing on the day. Because of COVID we couldn’t do a really big party but it was still big in itself the way we did it, it was lovely,” the Adelaide mother said.
DiGeronimo said now was the perfect time to welcome another member of the family, but conceded having a boy will be a steep “learning” curve for the couple.
“I don’t feel well equipped to have a boy, there are no baby boys in the family or that I’ve been around,” she said.
“But now is the right time, there’s no TV show, I can do this freely and how I want. I don’t have to wear heels like I did back during that period of time (on Yummy Mummies).
“So I’m looking forward to just enjoying being pregnant and having a really relaxed pregnancy.”
If there’s one person more excited than DiGeronimo and Vannini about the new addition, due in February, it’s their four-year old daughter Valentina.
“She’s over the moon. At first she wanted a little sister but now she wants a brother who’s a ‘protector’,” DiGeronimo said.
“We’ve kept her really involved, she’s been at every appointment … I want to make sure she doesn’t feel left out at any point so we’re doing it all together.
“And we’re going to let her choose the name as well, we picked four different names and eventually it will be her choice.”
DiGeronimo left Yummies Mummies after the first season of the show, but has since become a social media star in her own right, with over 589,000 Instagram followers, thanks in large part to Netflix who picked up global rights to the series.
While she hasn’t ruled out a return to reality TV, DiGeronimo said she’s focused on her growing family and has also been working with celebrity agent Max Markson.
