Rosanna Mangiarelli and Will Goodings have extended Channel 7’s stranglehold on the local news ratings, as the network unveils a new partnership with radio station FIVEaa.

Almost six months after TV veteran Jane Doyle retired from the newsdesk, her successors Mangiarelli and Goodings have continued Seven’s dominance in the weekday 6pm timeslot.

Seven’s flagship bulletin in Adelaide has so far averaged 112,000 viewers over the hour in 2023, while Nine News presented by Kate Collins and Brenton Ragless recorded 67,000, according to the latest Nielsen ratings.

Those figures are 3.5 per cent up on the same period last year for Seven’s new duo, while Nine News is down 18.5 per cent.

The revamped Channel 10 bulletin featuring Kate Freebairn as newsreader, Max Burford as sports presenter and Tiffany Warne on weather duties is averaging 22,000 viewers in the 5pm-6pm timeslot, down 11 per cent on last year.

Seven Adelaide news director Chris Salter said FIVEaa breakfast radio host Goodings and Mangiarelli were passionate South Australians whose “warmth and credibility shines through”.

“It’s a privilege to have so many South Australians welcome the 7NEWS team into their homes every night,” he said.

It comes as the network announces it has teamed up with FIVEaa to broadcast a 30-minute bulletin on the radio station.

7News on FIVEaa, which begins on Monday, will be heard weekdays at midday, and replaces a similar show previously hosted by Nine News.

It’s understood the previous agreement with Nine came to a mutual end.

FIVEaa station manager Craig Munn said they were thrilled to provide a “comprehensive daily news bulletin” from a “proven” news source such as Seven Adelaide.

In November, Doyle announced she was stepping away from 7NEWS Adelaide after 33 years as the station’s newsreader.

Goodings and Mangiarelli officially replaced Doyle on-air in mid-January.
