The fond memories came flooding back for Australian showbiz icon Richard Wilkins as he returned to help launch digital radio station smoothfm Adelaide.
The Today Show presenter and smoothfm Weekends host was the guest of honour at a city lunch celebrating the arrival of the “feel good” music station in Adelaide.
“I’ve always had a great time here, whether it was for the Grand Prix back in the 80s, or music festivals, or the Barossa (Valley), I love it – it’s a beautiful part of the world,” said Wilkins.
The digital station launched a decade ago in Sydney and Melbourne as part of the NOVA Entertainment network, and has now extended its reach across Australia.
smoothfm Adelaide kicked off this week with its own weekday brekkie program, the More Music Breakfast Show, hosted by TV presenter Kelly Golding.
Wilkins, who’s been with the station since it launched in 2012, said local music lovers were in for a treat.
“It’s great to think Smooth is coming here, it’s a great sounding radio station,” he said.
Listeners can tune into smoothfm Adelaide on digital radio, smart speaker or via the smooth player app.
