Radio ratings: Results of Adelaide’s first survey for 2024 are in with Triple M maintaining top spot

Has 2024 been the fresh start Mix 102.3 and ABC Adelaide were hoping for or is Triple M still dominating in the breakfast radio ratings?

It has turned out to be a happy new year for Triple M’s Roo, Ditts & Loz show and not such a great one for Aunty.

In the first radio ratings survey for 2024, ABC Adelaide’s new breakfast duo Sonya Feldhoff and Jules Schiller have finished in what has to be a disappointing fifth place with 9.5 share points.

The result is down 2.3 from the last survey for 2023 when Aunty’s then brekky duo – Nikolai Beilharz and Stacey Lee – were in second spot with 11.8.

In 2024’s survey one results, Mark Ricciuto, Chris Dittmar and Laura O’Callaghan are still in the top spot during the breakfast timeslot.

The trio scored 14.6 share points, and while it’s a dip of 1.7 from last survey, they are still ahead of the runner-up, FIVEaa, by two points.
FIVEaa breakfast duo David Penberthy and Will Goodings are in second spot with 12.6, up 1.2, followed by Mix 102.3’s Max & Ali in the Morning.

The rebranded Ali Clarke Breakfast show, which gives Ali’s co-host Max Burford top billing in its name, finished third with 11.8, up 1.7.

A radio insider tells The Advertiser Mix’s Taylor Swift ticket giveaway promotion would have a lot to do with the result.

The rumours that Mix will pick up Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O’s breakfast program from interstate may also be sparking some listener loyalty for Max & Ali in the Morning.

Nova 919 wasn’t far behind Mix; Jodie Oddy and Andrew Hayes finished fourth with 11.4 and the biggest gain in brekky of 2.3, followed by ABC Adelaide on 9.5.

SAFM’s Bec Morse and Mark Soderstrom are in sixth spot with 7.9 after dipping 0.6.

Again, it’s a disappointing result, especially because SAFM dominated the ratings back in the 1980s and was regarded as a world industry leader.

Interestingly, in what has to be the Taylor Swift effect, Mix is now Adelaide’s top-rating station overall.

It scored 13.3 compared to previous winner Triple M’s 11.6.
