The glamorous partner of Power ruckman Ivan Soldo has hit back at claims she’s moving overseas because she can’t stand living in Adelaide.
Chelsea Becirevic, a model, marketer and influencer, is relocating to Dubai next week to start a new role as a flight attendant for Emirates airlines.
Originally from the Gold Coast, Ms Becirevic admitted Adelaide was a “big adjustment” but said she was enjoying her time here alongside her footy star beau.
“Despite what everyone is saying. I did enjoy my time here in Adelaide. And if it wasn’t for this exciting job opportunity, I would still be here,” Ms Becirevic, 24, told The Advertiser.
“It’s disheartening to see such negativity online following my decision to relocate. However, ultimately, I know it’s the right choice for me and I am so lucky to have such an amazing partner that supports me.
“And wherever Ivan is when I get back is where I will be too.”
Ms Becirevic, who is planning to continue a long-distance relationship with Soldo, said the public underestimate how tough changing clubs is on footy players’ wives and partners.
“Many people tend to rush to judgment and overlook the challenges faced by partners in this industry. Moving away from our support networks to stand by our loved ones can indeed be incredibly isolating,” she said.
“My move to Adelaide was a big adjustment and Adelaide is a lot quieter than what I was used to, coming from Melbourne. But I think I’m just a city girl at heart.”
Ms Becirevic, who was planning to study biomedical science at university, first met ex-Richmond big man Soldo about two years ago, and moved to Adelaide with him late last year.
She said that “despite the rumours”, the photogenic couple are still “very happy together”.
“Ivan has been nothing but supportive of the big move,” said Ms Becirevic, who almost has 67,000 Instagram followers.
“At the end of the day we are best friends too, we both just want the best for each other, and he knows this will be such an awesome experience.
“I love the fact we are both young and ambitious and just wanna support each other to pursue our individual goals. Long distance will obviously have its challenges, but we are both excited for each other.”
