Five months after a public divorce from husband, Justin McKeone, Olivia Molly Rogers is slowly but surely getting back into the dating scene by joining a popular online dating app.
Former Miss Universe Australia, Olivia Rogers joined the online dating app Bumble, for their ‘2020-me’, self-love campaign.
The dating app explained that after their Self-Love Report, they found that 67% of single Australian’s with a high sense of self love have healthier romantic relationships.
And as Valentine’s Day approaches, their report found that 64% of single Australians felt more self-conscious about not having a partner.
As a newly single prominent figure, Adelaide-born Olivia is rallying behind the self-love message, to help others embrace and maximise their single phase.
“I’m taking good care of myself and exercising, getting fresh air. They’re the basic things, but they make such a big difference to how I feel,” Olivia said.
“Leaning on my support network, such as family and friends has been huge — particularly in the earlier days of the break up; and I also have a great psychologist that I talk to regularly.”
Olivia said out of all the lessons she’s learnt in her past relationships, maintaining her sense of self-love and putting up healthy boundaries will be the most vital traits in her future relationship.
“I don’t know if I’m really ready for a proper relationship, but what I’ve learned in the past five months, (is) when I do end up in another relationship, I’m going to take it in (self love),” Olivia said.
“A big part of that is setting boundaries, learning not to lose yourself in a relationship and making sure you maintain your independence.
“I think in my previous relationships, I’ve had a tendency to sort of put someone else’s needs before my own, and push my own feelings aside to make sure that the other person is okay.”
Learning from her past experiences, Olivia said this newly single-phase of her life she’ll be learning how to love herself, which will be the pillar for future relationships.
“Once you really know yourself, respect yourself and love yourself, then you’re not going to take sh*t from anyone,” Olivia said.
“Dating should be fun and you can date to make connections with new people and meet different people from all walks of life.”
As her first post-break up Valentine’s Day, Olivia said she’ll be stepping aside from the traditional romantic dates, and enjoying a “galantines day” night with her close female friends.
“I feel good about it. I know it can be daunting for people who were single leading up to Valentine’s Day because there’s so much lovey dovey stuff out there,” Olivia said.
“But it doesn’t have to be the traditional notions of love, its can be about loving yourself and taking time out for you, and that looks different for everyone.”
