Radio veteran Leith Forrest will take the reins of FIVEaa’s afternoons program while regular presenter Stacey Lee goes on maternity leave.
The top-rating evenings host, who will begin his new role on June 2, said he was “beyond excited” to keep Lee’s seat warm in her absence.
“While I’m no stranger to the shift, it’s another great challenge I’m excited to sink my teeth into,” he said.
“Listeners can rest assured, I plan to continue the amazing work Stacey has been doing, with a sprinkle of me included.
“So you might hear a couple of Carlton and Millicent mentions here and there.”
Lee said she couldn’t think of anyone better to take over the shift.
“Leith has so much experience and is incredibly well known and trusted by our FIVEaa listeners, so I know my radio baby will be in safe hands,” she said.
“The newshound in me will always have an ear on what’s happening so I know that bub and I will be some of Leith’s most regular listeners.”
Lee announced she was pregnant on FIVEaa’s breakfast show in late January.
Donning a shirt with the slogan “In my pregnant era”, the presenter and former TV newsreader was beaming as she revealed the news.
“It’s been a two-year journey for us, we were really over the moon when we got the news,” she said of her and husband Ben Millar.
The experienced journalist is due at the end of June and is expected to return to the airwaves early next year.
Forrest, who will clock up 25 years at FIVEaa in September, will be replaced in the evenings by another familiar voice, Matthew Pantelis.
The station’s former evening and morning show host, Pantelis will step back into the hot seat for the rest of 2025.
Station manager Craig Munn described Forrest as an “outstanding broadcaster with a strong connection to our audience”.
“While they’ll no doubt miss Stacey, we’re confident that the program is in safe hands with Leith,” he said.
