With the shock news this week of Jodie Oddy’s departure from Mix 102.3 after 13 years with the station, attention has turned to who will replace the long-serving radio host.

Outside suggestions for the gig have included up and coming young gun Alice James.

A producer of the Roo And Ditts breakfast show on Triple M, the 29-year-old is said to have been on the radar of those at the top for quite some time, according to radio insiders.

Then again, Mix could make a bold move and lure Ali Clarke back to the FM dial.

The ABC breakfast presenter has cemented herself as an audience favourite each morning regularly winning the coveted radio ratings crown throughout the last two years, often beating Jodie and on-air partner Mark Soderstrom, including in the latest survey released at the start of November.

Ali has a long history with the station thanks to her highly successful stint there in the early 2000s, alongside Kym Dillon and Chris Dzelde.

But the two leading contenders for Jodie’s vacated job are said to be AFLW legend Erin Phillips and Mark’s former Seven co-worker Jessica Adamson.

But why not put both ladies on air? Surely in 2020 it’s now finally time for Adelaide radio to have a breakfast show with, gasp, two female hosts.

While there have a been a few instances interstate, unbelievably an all-female radio team has never graced the Adelaide airwaves in any timeslot and given Mix’s strong female listenership it seems like a no-brainer.

Then again, this is an idea that might take a bit of thinking outside the box from Mix bosses and considering that this is the station who is still doing the Secret Sound in 2020, that course of action seems unlikely.

Mix’s publicity team say there will be an announcement shortly on Jodie’s replacement. Stay tuned!
