‘Everything has to come to an end’: David Koch hints at Sunrise future

Beloved Sunrise host David Koch has revealed he is seeking a change in his work life, with the sad admission “everything has to come to an end”.

Sunrise host David Koch has given the biggest hint yet that he is preparing for life after breakfast TV saying “everything has to come to an end,” when asked about his future on the Channel 7 show.

Koch signed a two-year contract extension with the network last year that will keep him on the show into 2024.

“I have been doing it (Sunrise) almost 21 years. I love it, I still have a passion for it, but I want a bit more flexibility in my life, for Lib and I to enjoy our lives and they (Seven) are happy to do that,” Koch said.

The union between Sunrise stars David Koch and Natalie Barr may be coming to an end.

“Everything has to come to an end, but I have got the flexibility to do it on my terms and I am incredibly grateful that I have that opportunity.

“I love working with Nat. She is the most incredible person to work with. You get up at god awful hours (to do breakfast TV), but it is a joy to work with her.”

Koch said Sunrise remained “the world’s best job.”

“To do our job you have to be curious about people and I am always curious,” he said

“I love to understand what makes people tick, everyone has a story, I learn so much from the people we interview and, for me, it is the world’s best job.”
