Hans reveals he would have stood for Mayo if he didn’t win through to America’s Got Talent live finals

ADELAIDE’S newest reality TV star Hans says his back-up plan if he didn’t make it through to the live finals on America’s Got Talent was to run for the seat of Mayo. So, be thankful it didn’t come to that.

Hans off to Hollywood after America's Got Talent performance

AS you read this, I’m on my way to Hollywood to perform at the Dolby Theatre for the next round of America’s Got Talent. My back-up plan if I didn’t make it through was to run for the seat of Mayo, so be thankful it didn’t come to that.

The middle rounds of the show are called the “judge cuts”. We actually filmed the episode — which my Adelaide fans saw on Fox8 on Wednesday morning — over five days, mostly getting a lot of background shots around Los Angeles.

The day of the performance itself was a very long one. By the time we hit the stage, we had been there for about 13 hours.

But, thankfully, during all the downtime, you get to become friends with a lot of the other contestants who are all crazily talented in their own right.

It’s an odd thing to be in a competition with acts that are so different from your own — dance groups, trick dogs, robots, magicians and so on. But AGT really is a variety show, so standing out is the key.

Of course, not everyone has worked that out, so some of the social media messages I’ve received since the episode aired have been colourful, to say the least, honeys.

But what can you do? Even Madonna has her detractors! And, yes, I am already comparing myself to a pop icon with 40 years’ experience in the entertainment industry.

I will say, however, that the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. I didn’t realise how many countries AGT was shown in until I started hearing from people across Asia, Canada, Europe — and even Iran!

But more than anything, I have been bowled over by the support from my adopted hometown of Adelaide.

Coming from Berlin and working in show business, many people over the years have always told me to move to Sydney or Melbourne. It just seems to be the thing you Aussies tend to do. But leaving this beautiful city was never an option. I mean, where else can the Premier come along to your cabaret show only for you to sit on his lap and sing a rendition of The Love Boat Theme? And hello, darling Steven, if you’re reading this!

So, thank you to Adelaide for all the very kind words and support — you’ve made me feel like Willsy.

Stay tuned for the live shows because we are planning something so over the top it will make Eurovision look like a school assembly. So, honeys, it’s time to Make America Glitter Again.

PS: My bobblehead dolls have now totally sold out!
