ANYONE who knows me, knows I LOVE a gossip. So needless to say, it’s been a difficult task keeping my AGT experience a secret, honey!
We flew to LA the day after the last night of the Adelaide Fringe Festival this year and filmed at the Pasadena Civic Centre — where Michael Jackson famously debuted his Moonwalk.
There was no time for jet lag, it was straight to business. All up, there were two full days of filming and we were on set for about 10 hours each day.
We did loads of behind the scenes footage (which you’ll see on Foxtel) and ran our routine in the few spare moments we had.
A chat with (fellow) supermodel Tyra Banks was the confidence boost I needed before stepping out on to the big stage in front of 3000 people — not to mention the millions who would be watching all across America.
The best way to describe performing in AGT is a little bit like a pantomime. The audience is loud. Really loud. If they love you, they’ll tell you. And if they don’t, they will REALLY tell you.
Thankfully, they were on my side from the first minute.
Then I just had to win the judges over. There has been a lot of talk online about me not understanding a word Heidi Klum was saying to me. Some have even gone as far to suggest that I might not actually be German. An outrageous accusation and my lawyers are already drawing up papers. The only explanation I have is that Heidi must have been speaking in a VERY specific dialect of German.
Performance wise, I knew I had to bring so much energy that it could almost renuclearise the Korean Peninsula. And with my dancing girls by my side, it’s fair to say: Game! Set! Match!
All four of the judges gave their tick of approval and now it’s on to the next round!
