Champagne corks must be popping at Mix 102.3 now that Ali Clarke’s breakfast show has finally made it on to the podium.
It’s been a slow burn for The Ali Clarke Breakfast Show, which made its debut at the start of 2022 after its namesake defected from the ABC.
But the show is now in third place overall in the breakfast timeslot, after recording 11.2 share points, up 2.1 from last survey.
The result is one the star of the show – who has been sharing her quest to learn more about her late birth father with her listeners – would be thrilled about.
But, of course, there can really only be one winner and that was Triple M’s Mark Ricciuto, Chris Dittmar and Laura O’Callaghan.
The trio really turned up the dial, recording a fourth consecutive win in the make-or-break breakfast market.
Heard on the FM band, the Roo, Ditts & Loz Show finished No. 1 with 12.6 share points, down 2.6 from last survey.
But, as they say in the classics, it was enough for the win, with FIVEaa’s Will Goodings and David Penberthy in second spot – but No. 1 on the AM band – with 11.5, after a dip of 0.4.
Triple M’s victory would be one bright spot in a tough time for Crows champion Ricciuto, whose much-loved dad Murray died last week.
Breakfast is considered the most important timeslot because that’s where the advertising dollars are and, as industry gurus will tell you, if you hook the listeners at breakfast they tend to stick with your station for the rest of the day.
ABC Adelaide’s Stacey Lee and Nikolai Beilharz were in fourth spot with 10.7 (down 1.2), closely followed by SAFM’s Rebecca Morse and Mark Soderstrom on 10.5 (up 1.4), with Nova 919 recording 10.1.
Mix was the number one station overall on 12.6. Triple M was runner-up with 12.2, followed by Nova on 10.8.
