Adelaide radio ratings: Triple M maintains ratings stranglehold

There is now one undisputed champion in Adelaide’s FM ratings race as Ali Clarke’s Mix morning show is gaining ground in one key timeslot.

Triple M’s domination of Adelaide’s radio ratings has continued with its breakfast team of Mark Ricciuto, Chris Dittmar and Laura O’Callaghan surging ahead in the latest survey.

The trio recorded a massive 4.7 listener share increase to sit six points clear in first place on 16.9 – their sixth straight survey with at least a share of top spot.

FIVEaa breakfast duo, David Penberthy and Will Goodings, dropped back to second position, falling 1.3 share points to 10.9, followed by ABC Adelaide’s Stacey Lee and Nikolai Beilharz with 10.1 (down 0.4).

There was some better news for Ali Clarke with her Mix 102.3 early morning show jumping up to fourth place in the all-important timeslot, courtesy of a slight 0.1 point gain.

Mix (9.7) sits just ahead of Nova 919’s Jodie Oddy and Andrew Hayes on 9.2 (down 0.8) and SAFM’s Rebecca Morse and Mark Soderstrom on 8.5 (down 1.5).

In the overall rankings, Triple M continues to reign supreme, recording a 3.2 listener share increase to sit as the number one station with 14.9.

Mix remained in second spot with 11.8, ahead of Nova on 9.3, and Cruise and SAFM on 8.7.

It was a bumper survey for Triple M, which recorded huge listener gains in all timeslots except for evenings.

In contrast, there were marginal falls across all timeslots for FIVEaa and Nova 919.

Today’s second to last ratings survey of the year comes as rumours circulated this week that ABC breakfast co-presenter Lee is set to move to rival station FIVEaa to host its afternoon shift, taking over from the outgoing Jade Robran.

FIVEaa station manager Craig Munn would not confirm that it was hiring Lee.

“There’s been no commitments made,” Mr Munn said on Monday.

Radio insiders have been saying for months that the ABC needs to shake up its breakfast show, which has fallen from the top of the ratings to perennial third place.

ABC radio ratings have been in decline across the nation, with some industry analysts blaming a lack of political balance.
